Across Latin America, women are leading efforts to protect their territories, sustain ancestral knowledge, and confront environmental destruction and injustices shaped by gender, race, and class.
Originarias is a storytelling platform created to bring these women’s voices, knowledge, and experiences to wider audiences.Through live conversations, intimate audiovisual dialogues, community-rooted research, and an upcoming documentary series, the project creates space for women to tell their own stories and share the ways they understand, care for, and defend their territories.
This project seeks to build bridges between their knowledge and new audiences, expanding the possibilities for connection, learning, collaboration, and action.
Through their stories, Originarias invites us to rethink what environmental leadership can look like, and whose knowledge gets to shape it.
Originarias is built as a circle rather than a one-way story.
Virtuous Circle
A woman shares her knowledge and experience. Someone discovers her story, learns something new, and finds a way to connect with her work. That connection can become a conversation, a collaboration, a visit, a donation, an opportunity to learn, or simply a new person who carries her story further.
Each encounter opens the possibility of another one. As more people connect with the women behind these stories, their work can reach new audiences, new allies, and new possibilities.
